First Train has been around since June 2007 and has been through a few changes of direction in its lifetime.

The idea of a Learning and Development business was first conceived whilst the Owner and Director of First Train, Christopher Brooks, was living in London .  Chris was a trainer for a large department store group called John Lewis.

Initially, First Train was set-up as a training organisation to deliver group training to corporates and to independently run specific training days.  First Train was able to offer many soft-skills based courses for individuals, managers, executives and HR professionals.

Rather quickly after inception, First Train moved into the Coaching world.  Coaching was a skill that Chris was first trained in whilst in London in 2000.  As the business owner of First Train, Chris then up-skilled his coaching in 2008 by qualifying with the Coach training company, CoachU.

During the downturn in the marketplace in 2008, First Train was able to offer outplacement services for organisations that were looking at retrenching staff.  Whilst not the most fun work that First Train has undertaken, it was some of the most rewarding.  First Train was able to secure the futures of all of the people that we worked with and made them see their future as an opportunity.

In the October of 2008, First Train set up The BoardRoom.  This was a brand new concept that sat very comfortably between a networking group and a professional industry event.  Designed for business owners (either potential, new or established) who work in isolation, it brought people together each fortnight for lunch or breakfast.  Meeting in a collaborative environment, it encouraged them  to share their ideas, goals or challenges with the others and tap into the experience of the people that they were having a meal with.  These continue with bated success today and we encourage you to pop along for your 2 complimentary sessions.

One of the advantages of a small business like First Train is the ability to adapt quickly to market conditions.  One of the downsides of a small business is having the resources available to cope with the demand.  First Train has a network of qualified trainers and coaches that can be called upon to ensure the right size delivery for the right learning experience.

First Train still offers Coaching, Development and Support in all of the above areas and our  previous experiences over the past 10 years make us a solid provider of learning at all levels across many industries.
